About IES
The International Elastocalorics Society
The IES is a non-profit organization and provides a global platform dedicated to the promotion and exchange of knowledge on elastocaloric materials and technologies. Our aim is to advance scientific and technology development, visibility, and dissemination in this innovative field in order to provide sustainable cooling and heating systems.
Through the organization of conferences, workshops and publications, we established a network for scientists, engineers and industry representatives working together on the further development of elastocaloric systems.
Our aim is to
- bring the potential of this technology to all relevant fields of application in the future, e.g., building air conditioning, industrial cooling, e-mobility and the household sector
- promote research and development in the field of elastocaloric materials and system technologies
- providing the industry a network for practical implementation
- pooling the expertise of international research teams
- establish best practices
History
The IES was officially founded in 2023.
The first kick-off meeting to found the society took place during the world’s first elastocaloric conference in 2023 in Saarbrücken.
The IES headquarters are hosted at ZeMA – Zentrum für Mechatronik und Automatisierungstechnik gGmbH (Center for Mechatronics and Automation Technology).
Through the organization of conferences, workshops and publications, we established a network for scientists, engineers and industry representatives working together on the further development of elastocaloric systems.
